Ash-Next-Ridley, Kent, Parish Church
The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Ash-next-Ridley, Kent

Thomas and Elizabeth Rhodes lived in Ash-next-Ridley, Kent, in the 18c. Several generations of Rhodes lived in this parish and in the neighboring parish of Ridley, Kent in the 18th and 19th centuries. Sometimes Ash-next-Ridley is referred to as Ash-by-Wrotham. Thomas’s father very likely was John Rhodes of Deptford.

Thomas’ grandson Charles Rhodes married Lucy Basing in Charlton, Kent in 1814,¬† and they immigrated to the United States about 1829, ending up in Pittsburgh. There has been a large contingent of Rhodes of several generations in the Pittsburgh area. Charles’ and Lucy’s¬†great granddaughter Mary Quarters Rhodes married John Sydney Stone in Paris in 1926. Below I present six generations starting with Thomas and Elizabeth.
